The beginning of the new year is definetly better than the end of this one... for sales at least.
One immediate reason (which applies to me for example) is that at the beginning of a new month credit cards reset their expense allowances. This month I had to postpone some purchases I wanted to do because with all the christmas presents I went over my card's limit - so In January I will have more things to buy than other months... if this applies to others as well as it does to me, January should be a good month :)
Also lots of people will buy more things for themselves - to follow new year's resolutions, or because they spent lots for others...and they now deserve something for themselves ;)
One thought for which people might spend less is that they OVERspent for Christmas and should maybe save now... but there again. they have all the year to save - if the offer is intriguing enough, I think it will work profitably :)
Cheers,
Saul
