I am assuming you are getting this unwanted mail because of a url or an email address you have left on a site somewhere out here in cyberspace.....SO harvesting robots have picked you up and sold you out to all kinds of people (some of which don't even realize that what they are doing is hurting everyone).
First, if you have url's on a web page encode them (see article below).
It is also very effective to display your url or Eddress as a clickable link graphic or a 'contact' form.
Those are the f*r*e*e ways of doing it. If you have $30 to invest, look into MailwasherPro.
I have found that preventing harvestors in the first place is the way to go! When I first put my newsletter on web pages, I was inundated with junk mail.
You must also realize that posting ads on FFA pages, etc. will bring a TON of junk mail....not only from the other members; but also from the harvesting robots. If you feel you MUST post (although I could not imagine why you want to torture yourself) to those types of advertising sites, then you best set up email accounts for each of them so you can at least test your results AND determine which of these sites are benefiting you.
Next....actually this should have been first :)
Whatever program you use to view your email (ie: Outlook, Eudora, The Bat, etc.) has built into it a way for you to filter out these unwanted mails. You can make a 'rule' out of each of them that sends unwanted mail directly to you trash file for deletion. Make it a habit to 'make a rule' each time you see something you never want to see again in your inbox...I usually use the "From" box for this because I don't want ANYthing they would offer!!! This will be time consuming at first; BUT, your delete button will thank you for it the very next time you open your mailbox!
Want further steps in the right direction? Check out this article below. I know it says 'guest book protection'! The article will take you beyond the guest book and a url where you can bookmark and use to encode your Eddress f*r*e*e.
Hope this gives you a good start for 2004!
