Accidents

'There may be no coincidences such as 'its no coincidence that you had an
accident because you weren't paying proper attention.', but there are
accidents.'I'm lost on these exchanges but want to pass comment on the definition of an accident. There is always a cause behind an accident. It never 'just happens'. My 6 year old boy always states after causing himself an injury or damage, including the physical to one of his sisters, that it 'was an accident' a way of absolving himself of any responsibility for his actions.
On another level, it is possible to be a totally innocent victim of an accident, not responsible for the cause but simply in the wrong place at the wrong time. The coincidence factor, hinges on whether you were, or weren't meant to be there at that particular time. That is fate. The unknown of which we have no control.
The US Defence Secretary Donald Rumsfeld recently gave a fascinating and well publicised speech about the 'knowns and unknowns'. "There are knowns that we know, unknowns that we know, and unknowns that we don't know"! We don't usually worry about what we don't know but it is that which can catch us out. I imagine his point was that we should worry more about the unknowns. Then paranoia sets in!

Maybe we should just pitch up on the moon.
