Hi Steve
Thank you very much for your help and additional info.
I truly appreciate it on my behalf and also the behalf of other people, as since this is a public posting anybody who comes across Empire Marketing Systems will have more sources to decide if they want to deal with them or not.
I knew about that 1 complaint, that was the main reason I asked for more info – but there were more things around I didn’t feel well about.
First of all the rep of this company who called me home claimed they got all my info when I bought the book Silent Sales Machines from Mr. Jim Cockrum. He made me believe Mr. Jim Cockrum is his boss, and he actually will even interview me after he decides if I “qualify” for their services.
(mind you the service would cost me thousands. And I mean Thousands!)When I asked for some warranties or credibility proof, like talking to some of their current clients, I was told that everybody has to sign-up the “non-disclosure” agreement as to “protect their privacy”. Which raised my alert right away, as being in the Sales/Advertisement I know that every real company Loves to show their satisfied customers, as That is The best, cheapest and most successful advertisement.
Not to mention FTC deem this practice as 1 of the sign of a deceptive company. On the other side on their behalf I have to say that when I checked the Utah BBC it mentions only 1 complaint which was supposedly successfully resolved. (had to be from the last year)
But when I tried to reach Mr. Cockrum directly I couldn’t find his phone number anywhere on the Web. I sent a few emails to his various email addresses, I finally got a reply after 2 days in which “somebody” (didn’t sign) wrote that they do give names of their purchasing customers to a couple of companies – as it is stated on their purchase agreement, and also that “we don't necessarily know all about or endorse all products offered”.
Well, as far as I could see on their site they state that the personal info will only be given to their partners, or they would ask for my personal consent first! Hmmm…
There were also more of these “little signs” I am not going to post here as the post would be too long.
Also 1 little interesting side-note: when I tried to post the same question at the Warrior forum, my post was deleted without ever giving me the reason, although I am a Warrior member since Oct.04, 1999.
I am just wondering now: maybe Mr. Cockrum is some “untouchable” member of that site…?So it is up to anybody to decide, but my decision for now is No, and I thank you again for your assistance.
Dagmar
