I've just come back to the forum today, after a very busy time (shameless plug: my website will open soon ;) and I'm dazzled by this huge thread... I *definetely* do not want to be associated with DuCharme. I read his book a long time ago (more than a year ago if I recall correctly) and had asked a refund at that time - too expensive for the content.
I did receive a prompt and kind reply, probably because he wasn't swamped by other emails at the time and because that's how you work online.Whatever the reason for his major difficulties in replying to all these angry customers (1 to complain, 1000 that feel the same without telling you is a rule of thumb I've learned working in the customer care field) I feel his behaviour is not very professional.
Even less professional is to endorse products *without* having read them. The "gurus" who have done so are guilt as much as DuCharme is, in my opinion, and are probably the cause of so much unexpected success. I say unexpected because if it was - there would be more people working to help him (or so would suggest a good business plan).
Now I'll carry on reading this very interesting thread, full of examples of "how to" and, unfortunately, "how to *not*" conduct business online...
Mike, thanks again for standing up in my place. People like you make forums like this one a great place to post :)
Cheers,
SaulPS. Justin - nothing personal, just business. Reputation online is one of the golden keys to success. And I want LOTS of success :)
