Mmmhhh... too many??
I've been studying webmarketing for the past 5 years... and I've bought (at a guess) more than 500 ebooks, not counting the ones I receive monthly as a member of different "ebook clubs", like the EbookWholeSaler and PushButtonPublishing.
I have read almost anything written by a "Guru" and tested the various tips and tricks to see what worked and what didn't. I probably spent well over a couple of thousand dollars. And I learned a lot from it. I chose to invest in my knowledge - and it's paying me back tenfold now.I've read on a previous post:
Success is a choice. You can read about it, or choose to be successful. What would you like to do?I agree...to a certain extent. You can't just "choose" to be successful - or anybody would be. But it is true that you can't be so just by reading. At one point or another *action* must be pursued - theory alone leads to nowhere (my previous 5 years prove it).
Now - after having studied so much - I feel confident enough to come out of my hole in the wall to help others. And (I'm not a modest person) it looks like people are appreciating my help. I've learned who to trust and what to avoid, how to distinguish high performance from hype and what are the differences and similarities between offline and online marketing.Right now I'm studying Jay Abraham's X-factors to see how they can be applied to online marketing, and I'm quite sure it will improve my chances of success by a fair share.
Yes, success can't be achieved by just reading - but it can be made much easier by reading the right books ;)
I fortunately have a good offline job (IT consultant) with which I can finance my online researches, and I don't fall in that 80% of people who buy ebooks and don't read them... so I can say that reading a lot IS useful. Very useful in fact to avoid the too many traps and pits you can find online.
But there again, someone who acts without reading has 100% more chances of having success than he who reads without acting... or, said another way, you can aim forever - and never hit the mark, or just shoot and take your chance to hit the mark :)
I decided to aim with an infrared superzoom with enhanced ballistic aid... and now I'm going to shoot to see if it works as it should - and I'm quite confident it will :)
(I know, I know, I sound...err, I *am* arrogant, but I have my reasons to be so, eheheh ;)
Cheers,
Saul
