I am of the 'invest in yourself' school of thought. I buy at least one new ebook every week. And I read every word.
But I am also a 'doer'. Information unused is like money under the mattress - food for the rats.
Most of the books I've bought contain some redeeming point that makes their purchase valid.
Some don't and a quick refund request is the onlt sensible recourse.
In my e-zines, BizE-zine and Kickstart Daily, I make it a policy to only recommend books that I have personally read and found to be 'best in class'. As a responsible marketer, how could I do anything else? I cannot understand how people can risk their own reputations by recommending products that they may have only seen the sales page of.
As a result, I don't recommend many books - only half a dozen or so, but the number of refunds that go through my affiliate links are virtually zero.
My readers may not always agree with me, but at least they know that when I say a product is worth their while buying, I am talking from personal experience. It is my opinion, not someone else's.
But even if I didn't sell books online, I'd still buy ebooks, purely for the pleasure of discovering something new. It is rare, but so exciting when it happens.
That happened this morning. I bought a new book that literally has me shaking with excitement. And I've still only read half of it.
Keep looking and you too will find the gold.
I won't mention the book I've bought here, but if you'd like to read what I said in today's copy of BizE-zine, please click the link below.
Martin.
