Hi John,
You have a good start. Here are a few suggestions.
1) Colors. Red, Blue and Black are the best colors for text, bolding, & headlines. You need to be consistent throughout your page. If you use red for the largest text, use it the same way throughout. Green is not my color, but that's me. If you want to use green go ahead, just make it consistent throughout.
2) Font size - Make it consistent throughout. All headings are the same size and font, all body text is the same size and font. You have several places where the body text is different in size from section to section.
3) You have some sections where you show bulleted items. That's great! Make as many things as you can into bullets. People scan websites and bullets are easy to read when scanning.
4) Think about breaking up your paragraphs by a sentence that is bolded, much larger font, a different color, and has a blank line above and below it. Think of it as a heading where you are trying to grab attention to a point you are making. As an example, you make a statement "Mama didn't raise no fool". Separate that out from the rest of the text, bold it, use a different color, etc. That will give your point more punch.
5) Make your paragraphs no more than 4-5 lines. It helps the reader. You don't want it to look like a book or read like one. Remember it's your sales copy and you are trying to sell something.
6) I like the story aspect of your copy. That gives it a more personal touch. More believable.
7) At the top of your page you start by telling people about your Special Introductory Offer. Frankly who cares, I don't know what you are selling yet. Move this text to the bottom of the page where you close the deal and give the details of why they should sign up now. After you have pitched what your are selling, offering, etc.
8) Quotes and testimonials are good for breaking up paragraphs, making points, etc. You have some of those, add a few more.
9) Keep stressing the benefits of subscribing to your report throughout your page.
10) Think about a graphic for the report. It really does help with the visualiztion when someone can see something that represents a book, report, or software box.
This may not be a valid analogy, but I use it. In the food preparation business the visual appeal of the food is half the battle. If it doesn't look (or read) good on the menu or in the ad, no one will buy it. The first initial impression does count. I believe the same thing holds for a website and sales copy. If it doesn't look good, doesn't appeal to the visitor, doesn't jump out and grab them, then they won't hang around to read more of the sales copy, won't sign up, or won't buy your product.
John, I hope this helps.
