Has your email address ever been hijacked .. ??

I was just curious if anyone has had the same thing
happen to them that has happened to me.I have one email address that was always kept very
private since it is the one I set up for my 11 year old
to use for email from family.Suddenly, it started receiving all kinds of email.
Especially SPAM. The ISP was of no help. After researching I finally was blessed with a few
receipts for online purchases. There is a lady
that was using the email address as her own. With
the receipts for online purchases I was able to
find out 'who' was responsible and her actual
address. This information was given to the ISP who
informed me that they would get it stopped.Never happened. But I still didn't feel comfortable
contacting her personally yet. Then one day .. just by chance .. I received a personal
email from her niece .. which, of course, was really
meant for her. I sent an email to the niece and explained
what was happening and asked if she could help.
I received a nice reply and she assured me she would help.
Based on her reply .. I had the feeling it was a much older
lady that might .. shall we say .. have her own cobwebs in
the attic.Things were better for a while .. now I'm getting all kinds
of emails thanking me for signing up for this and that.
Plus, the spam has started again. Needless to say, I made
other arrangements for my son's email .. but ...What would you do ...
1. Call ISP and tell them to help again.
2. Call ISP and tell them to just give the address to her.
3. Contact the niece again.
4. Just overlook and keep informing and unsubscribing.
5. Reciprocate and use her 'real' email address to sign up for all kinds of things.
6. ????Just curious ...
