The Bad News & Good News in 2005

The bad news:
After re-organizing the Web site (which had it shut down for awhile), moving away from safelist e-mails and moving to "safe forums" to read/post ads to, and a possible attack against the site's SQL databases, the cycle times have been pushed past 90 days (currently 110 days), and the new site is only processing 3 times a week where it used to process five times a week.
The good news:
Cycle times are expected to come down as everything gets caught up and the site eventually moves to processing 7 days a week. They recently added an option to purchase directly via credit card, and they are making plans to adding their own debit card to withdraw your funds, which will allow you to skip using a 3rd party payment processor if you don't need a check. And even with extended cycle times, nobody's failed to be paid.
Is it bad news that YMMSS uses outside sources of funding to help fund the commissions payable accounts? Guess it depends on how you view Kim Inmann's philosophy, which is you don't prey on one group of people in order to pay off another. He doesn't want this to be a "numbers game", so if he can infuse multiple sources of revenue back into the commissions payable account and everybody keeps getting paid, I don't see what the fuss is.
Unconventional? Yes. But then again, I don't see too many shareholders of General Motors stock complaining that GM keeps up the price of that stock by investing in pay-per-view pornography. GM really doesn't want you to know this, but they can't stop from revealing it because they're a publicly-traded company. But since YMMSS isn't a publicly-traded company, Ken Inmann will tell you that what exactly all those sources are is none of your business because he wants to protect the stability of his business.
