I think Adam has covered all the bases here.

The only thing that I'd add is to check out the link below about getting the various elements into a sales letter. This is very important and does make a huge difference.

Ultimately I would strongly recommend using some form of split-testing to scientifically test your sales letter.

I don't keep it a secret that split-testing has been a cornerstone to my own success on the net!
