Definitely - this is the kind of thing that makes it harder for
the rest of us to do business. Here's something to think about - the marketers in this forum, as
a group, have an enormous amount of influence. Why not help his
future ex-customers and ourselves by putting the word out.If some of us were to cooperate, it would be so easy. It would
have to be done periodically to be effective, but... why not tap
into some of that creativity we have in getting the right
information in front of the right faces? It's in everyone's best
interest. We can really only make ourselves look good by doing
so. To continue to turn a blind eye to this kind of thing seems
almost negligent.Just out of curiosity, does anyone know how this guy manages to
keep his merchant account? It seems like they'd almost have to be
in on it.Maybe there's a better way to handle this. But it seems to me
that doing nothing is the wrong answer. I'll personally help
organize anything that people support.I suppose this kind of power could be abused, but in this case I
think it's clear to everyone that Mr. Ducharme is a bad element,
whether some people got their refunds or not. Who knows why he
makes the decisions he does? This isn't vigilante justice because it isn't about vengeance.
It's about helping people and it just so happens that we reap the
benefits when we do. It's a win-win. A lot of us work hard to
establish a reputation. And rightly so - reputation should be a
major driving force behind sales. By working to keep it that way,
we make it easier on those of us that work to have it.I'm probably preaching to the choir here when I say that laws can
only do so much and I don't think any of us want to see them
governing everything we can and can't do on the internet. The
small guy tends to lose out in when this happens because money
talks, regardless of the law. We've all witnessed that money can
provide more legal protection than what's warranted. And if the
CAN-SPAM law is any indication of the future of internet law,
which I'm sure no one would be surprised to see, then I think
some of this stuff should be handled in more creative ways. What do we think?
