Before you decide to buy anything (in this case, software) that will help you create something, ask yourself:

Is learning to use the software the best use of my time? And will the e-book covers I produce inspire confidence in my customers? Or will they have that "lovingly made at home" look?

If the answers to the above aren't a resounding YES, then hire this job out.

I've had an e-book cover created by Vaughan Davidson of KillerCovers.com. I certainly can't fault the work he did, but that cover didn't help that book sell.

Why not? Because that cover was for an e-book on Internet marketing. And when I published that tome, there were already 1,479,236 books on that subject already. (I made that number up.)
