RSS Spam

It Was Just A Matter Of Time...
By Trina L.C. SchillerBeing that I have long ago resigned myself to giving up on e-mail marketing, since the spammers of the day have rendered it practically useless, I have become a champion of RSS. RSS presents us all with an awesome tool for communication, publication and presentation without having to rely on e-mail, without spam complaints, or legal compliance to ineffective statues handed down by the, Almighty US government. RSS is a powerful alternative, and is now the current rage among marketers. I am personally very happy to see the shift in the trend.
However...
now that RSS has reached the mainstream, the gurus have flocked to capitalize on it. This in itself is not a bad thing, as we all strive to make money online, but they have really done nothing more than to confuse people about what RSS is, and worse; Armand Morin has gone and created software that will render the use of RSS for marketing useless. That's right, I said useless. His new software effectively spams the search engines with pages full of keywords, without relevant content to back them up. And once Googlebots get wise to it, blacklists will be created.
Armand's software is not a revolutionary tool, it is a cheat! A cheat that will have devastating effects on legitimate feed publishers. Just as legitimate business owners have suffered under the CAN-Spam Act.
Creating legitimate RSS feeds (blogs) is a terrific way to generate traffic to your business, but this nice little cheat of his is going to ruin that for everyone, if it is used.
And what is the benefit of injecting link after link of keyword rich pages that contain no real content anyway? Your customer will click on that link and find nothing useful. Your stats may grow, but will your sales? No. They won't. The reason being that they [potential customers] will be taken to nonsense pages of keywords, not to pages that sell your product.
As a customer, I would look at that and feel cheated. My time has just been wasted by being directed to a web page filled with everything but the solution to my problem. Furthermore, this kind of search engine spamming will decrease the value of Google in the minds of the public. That is something Google won't tolerate, and guess who ends up suffering in the end? You do. Getting your domain banned from Google is like shooting yourself in not one foot, but both feet.
Congratulations Armand! You have successfully created software that will not only frustrate customers, make webmasters look stupid, but will also get them banned from search engines too! Way to go!
