My concern is not about compliance, rather the chance to make your opinion known to the regulators who will write the final rules. If the marketers don't respond to the FTC then who will.
For example, some privacy advocates think a legitimate post office box address should suffice instead of providing a street address. Female marketers, in particular, are concerned about this. Shortening the time to three days for removal from a list is also a concern for some. That simply might not be enough time to act upon a request. What happens when the request is made while you're away from your business?
The FTC wants your opinion but they have given a deadline (today) for responses. I sure hope you're right and that the readers have posted to the FTC board. I realize that you are absolutely right about reading the post and I stand corrected. I assumed (yep, we know what that means) that I would be able to tell if someone read the post I would know. That's only true if someone replies to the post. That's my mistake and I appreciate that you brought it to my attention.
