Most WYSIWYG software does it all for you

Your friends code is an easy example.

You have your mainframeset (no idea how this will appear on the forum, hope I don't break it)

You will see you have 3 panes, each having a default html page, and a name.

You create your pages as normal, and you will see on your friends page that for every link there is a "target" defined which is the name of the right hand pane "rightFrame"

Also read the help file with the program you are using
