Today is July 13, 2005 and the whole Mike Chen thing is history!
During the Mike Chen debacle, I questioned Mike Filsaime's motives at flaming a person who he believed to have wronged him, simply because there are SO MANY MIKE CHEN'S............ who are the readers supposed to hate?... The Mike Chen who lives in Milwaukee, the Mike Chen who paints portraits or the Mike Chen who was recently laid off, has 3 kids and a mother who just died? THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF MIKE CHEN'S! I am really not interested in who has an axe to grind with whom - it is just plain WRONG to flame a person (no matter how at fault) when they share the same name as so many others, without making a clear distinction!
Because of this flaming war, waged single handedly by Mike Filsaime, who coerced hundreds of InstantBuzz members to join in his crusade ~ NO WITCH HUNT!, I chose to opt OUT of InstantBuzz. Honestly, after 2 months, I had nothing to show for that toolbar being on my screen anyway!
At the same time, I formally opted out of InstantBuzz, sending a private message to Mike Filsaime, requesting instant termination of membership and NO FURTHER CONTACT. Why am I still receiving 'jolly' e-mail messages from this total stranger as though he were my life long buddy? (Listed in full below)
MIKE FILSAIME, YOU DO NOT KNOW ME AND I DO NOT WISH TO KNOW YOU! The very last thing that I want is for you to be cluttering my business Inbox with your 'buddy-buddy' mails that I DON'T WANT!
In case you are not familiar with the law, once I request removal, you are supposed to REMOVE me from your mail list! SAVVY?
ONCE AND FOR ALL.........

(HOPEFULLY, YOU UNDERSTAND PLAIN, SIMPLE ENGLISH!
I am not part of your petty argument (which to be honest, should have been settled via the correct channels and NOT aired in public) and furthermore, if I find that your concept is not working for me - or for any reason, I choose not to partake - then I am within the law to expect NO FURTHER CONTACT FROM YOU OR YOUR COMPANY at my request. Thus far, you are in clear breach of the law in this regard!
Any further contact by you, whether by phone, e-mail, fax or postal mail, will result in a RESTRAINING ORDER!
