Thanks to Josh Anderson. I took your suggestion and bought the inline "telephone recording control" from Radio Shack that wasn't more than $16. I already had a digital tape recorder that it worked great with. One note that they explained to me at Radio Shack: it's important that you use this with a corded phone whose number pad is not on the phone itself, but on a separate handset that rests on a desk or is connected to the wall. Otherwise this type of recording control won't work.
