I think Rick & Deb have you on the right track.
You will need a website to store your ebooks so they can be accessed. You don't want to attach them to an email and send them around that way. Depending on the size of the ebooks, it will clog up inboxes.
I would think a free hosting site would work fine for what you want. Search in Google for free hosting and I'm sure you'll get a number of options. Pick one and sign up. My webhost offers a free 15-day trial and then gives you the FTP software for trying it out. www.mewebhost.com
You'll have to upload the ebooks to your site using some FTP software. Store them there and then send the download links in your email messages. The hosting site you choose may offer some FTP software as well.
You may want to zip up the ebooks (with a utility like WinZip which you can get free at www.winzip.com) to compress or reduce the size which will help with the download time. Smaller sizes download quicker.
Ebooks come in EXE and PDF format. PDF's can be accessed by all PC's and MAC's. EXE's can only be opened by PC's so if your have any MAC owners as subscribers and you offer a EXE ebook, they won't be able to view it.
For anyone to read the PDF's they will need Acrobat reader which can be obtained free at http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/main.html
Hope this helps.
