Aweber's bold deliverability claims (was Re: Delivery percentages)

It is ironic how Aweber states that they have
made an attempt to contact me about "untrue"
GetResponse email deliverability statistics,
whereas it is Tom that boasts 99.34% email
delivery percentage right on Aweber's website. To anyone familiar with email marketing and
deliverability issues, that number stands out
as an arbitrary figure and a bold marketing
ploy. While Aweber's PR efforts may be paying of for
them, email marketing professionals know that
such results are near impossible to achieve due
to many issues such as bounce backs, mailboxes
not found, mispellings, blocks, RBLs,
connectivity issues, ISP problems etc.I can provide examples of significant
ISPs and Email Service Providers that have
issues and problems resulting in poor
deliverability, for every provider,
including Aweber and GetResponse. There is
also plenty of independent research on email
deliverability by various third-parties that
supports this.I would be certainly very interested to hear
about Aweber's methodology behind the delivery
tests that support their 99+% deliverability
figures.Their claims are certainly inconsistent with
industry research and our own tests that
show their deliverability is significantly
lower than their claims. At GetResponse we...
* are monitoring our email deliveries 24/7 and immediately escalate any potential issues internally to ensure the continuity of our customers' email marketing campaigns.
* have a dedicated Deliverability Group that keeps track of all email delivery related issues.
* stay in touch with all the major ISPs have a whitelisting status with many of them.
* are a member of the most prominent email sender organization focusing on anti-spam issues and email deliverability: ESPC.org (Email Sender and Provider Coalition). Aweber is not a member of that organization.
* participate in all email marketing and anti-spam conferences and conventions.
