Here's the solution I've been using for a few weeks and I've found it to be pretty good.

Called Eliminate Spam!

Free download. The paid version removes a confirmation screen.

I still check the SPAM over before hitting delete, but it sorts it out into a separate folder and does a great job of guessing what's what. It also learns from you as you go along and adds peoplle you email to your friends list.

Useful when daily emails start to run into the THOUSANDS!
