if it's a typical social marketing user, then they probably have no idea that they are stealing your bandwidth, or what that even means, and they probably don't know what to make of the message that comes up instead of the old graphic.
In the social networking world people pay each other compliments by linking to stuff they think is cool. It's all hosted for free so most people have no clue about bandwidth costs when they link to someone outside the network who pays for their own hosting and bandwidth.
Putting up an undesireable graphic with a message might meet your objective of getting them to drop the link.... unless of course they start asking each other about it, in which case you could get a lot more bandwidth 'stolen' from the buzz about what you did.

Instead, why not put a URL to one of your own related marketing sites in the graphic, then the person might keep your graphic online, and you might get some "free traffic" instead of "stolen bandwidth" out of it.
