I Really Need Help Selling To A Competitive Market...

Hi,
Been visiting this forum regularly but this is my first time posting.
I have a lot of experience in the weight loss industry and am trying to sell a product I wrote on how to lose weight and actually keep it off the healthy way, and without counting calories or taking pills.
However, the diet/weight loss market is very competitive and I'm not having much luck.
I decided to write articles targeting low competition keywords and so far I've wrote 72 articles (yes, I put in the time to write this many articles!) and submitted several each day using Article Post Robot to hundreds of article directories.
So far I haven't had more than 30 visitors a day and haven't had a single sale!
Actually, that's a lie. I've had 1 sale but that's a result of posting in weight loss forums.
I think the problem is that this market is so competitive that the only keywords that had low competition had very few searches. However, I thought the article directories would help me get good rankings for related keywords as well.
I'm also trying to advertise on AdWords but I'm finding my money is just draining and I'm not seeing much traffic.
I guess my question is, how can I get exposure to my product in such a competitive market? The product itself is very good and the sales letter and web site was designed by a professional copywriter, but I'm just not able to get it in front of my potential customers.
Considering how big this market is I have high hopes for this product and really believe it can bring in at least $10,000 a month if I can figure out a way to market it well.
I don't have much of a budget left but can dedicate 5 days a week to this if necessary so time isn't an issue.
