THE "REAL WAY" TO GET TARGETED TRAFFIC

Hi all. This post is in response to "How To Get The Most From Your Traffic Swarm Account." Bear with me a for a little while. I will discuss a sure-fire way(s) to get the visitors you want to your site. I don't mean to knock the owners or the traffic swarm system. I'm just gonna tell it like it is. I am (was) a member of traffic swarm. I had signed up for the free program (thank God). For weeks, I clicked, clicked and clicked until I actually built up over 20,000+ credits. That was an excessive amount of clicking. I haven't been back to the traffic swarm site in over 2 years. Heck, I don't even remember my password or ID, etc. The last day that I clicked away, I had over 13,000 surf credits. At that time the credits were supposedly non-expiring. I had wanted to give my surf credits to someone else since I wasn't gonna waste my time building up any more. Something changed at that time and surf credit transfers were no longer allowed.
The good thing I can say about traffic swarm is that you'll get some degree of free advertising. But to whom are you advertising to? Probably to other free traffic swarm members who are surfing for free traffic credits like yourself. Those people were probably as disinterested in my site or products as I was in theirs. It is/was a waste of my bandwidth to generate that type of traffic. I could use up to 100-500+ credits a day and not even make an affiliate product sale. I don't remember seeing any improvement in my link popularity from any traffic swarm link(s) to my site either. I've even joined and tried one of the supposedly "BEST" free/paid advertising deals on the net. What did I get? People contacting me so that they could get me to their site to buy their products! It's simply unfeasible to advertise (free or paid) to other advertisers or anyone else unless you've got products/services enough of those people are ready and willing to pay for. How many people do you know who will visit a traffic exchange or an advertising site when they are looking for products or services? Probably zip! I don't. Now I will move on to one of the newest and best ways to generate "quality" and "targeted" traffic to any web site.
Here is the best way to my knowledge to get the visitors you want to your site. Video, audio podcasting and setting up a RSS feed (Real Simple Syndication). RSS feeds are a little more complicated (the syntax) than html web pages. But all that a RSS feed is is an xml or an xhtml web page containing listings of the audio, video, pdf or other digital documents on a web server that can be downloaded to those subscribed to that RSS feed. Those interested in podcasting can do a google search on video/audio podcasting. Guess what? You don't have to spend hundreds or thousands of dollars to create RSS feeds or podcasts. You can create an xml or xhtml web page using dreamweaver or Namo web editor. I even created an xhtml web page using the CSE html validator by clicking save page as so-and-so.xhmtl. Now all I would have to do is add the appleitunes RSS feed specifications along with other pertinent information to that xhtml web page and follow the rules to get my podcast listed on appleitunes. There are also sites on the net where you can validate your RSS feed to ensure that the syntax (web page coding) has been correctly done. I would do that before requesting a RSS feed listing on appleitunes or anywhere else. A podcast listing was free on appleitunes and the dozens of RSS feed directories the last time I checked. There are hundreds if not thousands of subjects that are listed in the RSS feed directories. I'm sure your content will fit in some where.
I'm sure that most if not all of you have heard of youtube and google videos. I think that's a fantastic way to drive interested visitors to a site. Producing videos may be a little more technical, time consuming and expensive than audio files. I think everyone has an idea of the amount of visitors that youtube and google videos receive, and the links from those sites to your site can translate into more targeted traffic to your site(s). People that are interested in what you have to say or sell. The links from the RSS feed directories may also boost your traffic and link popularity. I haven't done any of this stuff yet. I do believe that it will yield a higher return on your investment of time/money spent on other time-wasting traffic generating methods. In closing, I'd like to list some of the possible advantages I see in podcasting (RSS feed):
1. Increased link popularity which can increase your search engine traffic.
2. One-way, quality inbound links to your site that you didn't have to beg or pay for.
3. Free advertising that will send more than other advertisers or credit surfers to your site(s).
4. A sure-fire way to get your message(s) to the masses who are interested.
5. Peace of mind in knowing that when you put quality content on a web page, interested parties will know about it.
6. There will be no need for email marketing (list building) to those who are not customers or who may never become one. They say the money is in the list. There may be some truth to that. What good will it do to build and maintain a mailing list(s) that yields no monetary returns? The bottom line is this: Having products or services that people are ready and willing to purchase from you. But you won't hear this type of information from those who are picking your pockets about how much you can make from purchasing anything from them.
7. With a podcasting (RSS Feed) set-up, I don't think you will have to spend the rest of your life trying to play catch-up with the search engines. Do you get my drift? I don't have time to waste re-tweaking the same web pages week after week. This is it kids. Good luck. Find something that works and stick with it. If it aint working, it may be time to pull the plug on it.
