Might be Lenghty....but...Here's a Good "Traffic Recipe" I wrote

Here is one of the small "Traffic Recipe" that I wrote a little while back for a teleclass made primarily for the beginner.
Traffic Generation – not to be confused with generating traffic!
1. Traffic Generationa. Search engine optimization (keyword, content relevancy etc….)
b. Search engine marketing (adwords, etc….)
i. This system fails for many people because of the misunderstanding
that it is a form of generating traffic. Even though it shares
those properties, it was actually ingeniously designed to create
branding and not direct sales.
c. Directory placement (DMOZ, Yahoo Directory etc…..)
d. Reciprocal link building (trading links either one way or
reciprocating)
e. Blogging
i. Another tool used incorrectly. People inconceivably use the
blogging system to create an instant income stream.
f. Information Downloads (e-books, reports, etc….)
g. Scripts
i.Scripts play a major role in automating traffic generation. A good
example would be the tell-a-friend script.
2. Generating Traffic
a. Ezine classifieds
b. Traffic exchanges
c. Social book marking (aka: tagging)
d. WEB 2.0 (you tube, socially interactive sites, etc….)
e. Joint Ventures
f. VRE swap (mutual bartering of web space between webmasters)
g. Articles
1. Buddy rings (yep, the good old buddy system)
a. Use the buddy system to create instant traffic and popularity. Web
rings is a group of webmasters that mutual agree to “help” each
other out in generating traffic. The most common benefit that you
should already be familiar with is reciprocal linking where like
minded webmasters with comparable themes exchange links on a page
per page optimization linking effort. This scenario that I
call “the buddy system” (aka. web ring) goes further than
exchanging links. The mutual manipulation of on page linking is
transformed into what I call “Tag, Your It”. In “Tag Your It”,
instead of exchanging on page links, you tag each others pages
through social book marking databases. How do you create a “buddy
ring” if you do not have a list, no mastermind and no where to tap
into such a system? Answer: the easy and quickest way possible!
There are two different ways to go about creating your own buddy ring (aka. web ring). Before Social Book Marking just recently became popular again, webmasters created club like rings and the approval of your acceptance into the ring became a process. It is still pretty much the same way today. This process differentiated themselves from link farms thus, keeping in good standing with the search engines. By doing a quick search for “web rings”, you can locate many of these tightly close niche rings. It will require that you go through an approval process and then upon acceptance, you will be able to present your idea of the buddy system through the process of tagging. Although, these rings are excellent for on page optimization and for the open sharing of page rank, they still will not give you the diversity of a network that is widely themed in exposure without any of the penalties cramping your style from the search engines. Nonetheless, it is the exposure that you are seeking.
The other way is to use social networking. Social Networking Sites are databases that are community driven through personal interaction of the users. These communities have been deemed as a form of web 2.0 as well because it is looked upon as the new wave of internet interaction not experienced before on such a popular scale. MySpace is such a site. That is why I tend to pick on MySpace because of its wide range of acceptance, ease of use and super quick response levels.
i. Your first step would be to setup an account at MySpace if you do
not already have one. http://www.myspace.com Create your profile and
take a few minutes to familiarize yourself with the various
different functions. Your initial key functions will be the
bulletins section and the blog section of MySpace. You will learn to
lean heavily on the two functions.
ii.At first you will not have any friends, don’t worry, that will
change rapidly as we continue your setup in the generation process.
iii. After you have setup your account and entered your profile details
as you would like them to be, I want you to immediately focus on the
blog function within your MySpace area. For the lack of time, I want
you to choose a PLR article that blends with what you want to
promote for the first time. Do not worry about rewriting your
article or making it unique like you would for conventional
distribution, it is not necessary. The article just needs to fit a
theme of the product or service you want to promote. This could be
your own membership site to something like a clickbank
product. The only requirement for your article is that you work in a
keyword within the article in three different places. The keyword
you choose will be turned into an anchor link and then ultimately a
tag for book marking. The three different places are: the title of
the article, upper middle of the content copy and again in the lower
half of the content copy. Finish your article with a byline
consisting of Website Name, a two line description with one keyword,
and again the URL to the site you want them to go to. After you have
uploaded your article in your “manage blog” area of MySpace, make
your self familiar with the “post bulletin” function while you are
there. The post bulleting function will not be of benefit to you
until you start adding your friends but, I have chosen to add the
information here anyway. You can refer back to it at a later date.
The beauty of creating traffic from MySpace is not isolated to
properly executing the blog function. The bulletin function has just
as much power packed in it as a traffic generation tool. The ability
to use this function in its inherited state as a viral exposure
mechanism is an absolute phenomena. Here is what happens when this
function is in play.
A) You post a bulletin announcing either your post in your
blog in three sentences to a free report to a program or
service you are promoting. That post automatically shows up
in your friends email box and on his/her MySpace page,
forcing all their friends to see the post as well. Ever
have in of those conversations that your friend said that
they heard from a friend of a friend of a friend etc… Well,
hopefully you have the point of what this can mean to you
in the form of networking magnitude.
B) The same can be said for the “comment function”. Like I
said, become familiar with MySpace. It might seem like a
zoo, and I agree, but the rewards can not be measured. I’m
not going to say to much more about MySpace here. At this
point it is not necessary. George Levy at
http://www.myspacemastership.com has a free download about
MySpace that fills in the cracks and brings you up to speed
using the more advanced techniques.
2. Web 2.0 (YouTube, Google video, etc….)a. Traffic generation also comes from video and audio. Tying into a
system makes it even more exponential in your efforts. You may
not know it but, you already have what it takes to participate
in the mainstream of YouTube and Google Video. Actually, it came
preloaded in your Microsoft software when you bought your
computer. It is called Microsoft Movie Maker. MSN.com has it
available to those that have uninstalled it on their computers
or bought a customized system without it. You can re-download it
from there at no charge.
b. Right click on this link and “save as” for a video tutorial that
will show you how to create a video/audio product here:
http://www.traffic-n-more.com/youtube-traffic2f.zip
c. Signup for an account at YouTube: http://www.youtube.com
d. Create your video/audio using the tutorial and post it into your
account inside your YouTube member area. Title it with one of
your keywords. Use your keyword in your description and insert
the URL. Your URL can be the landing page on your site or if you
want to beef up your “friends” inside of your MySpace at first,
then do that. You will have a good understanding of what I
saying after you have seen the tutorial. You can edit the URL
you want to use for the viewer of your video later in your
YouTube member area.
e. After you have uploaded your video/audio in YouTube, copy and
paste the URL you’re given to your upload and paste that code
into your “favorite videos” inside your MySpace area. This
creates a nice loop drawing traffic from YouTube and MySpace and
funneling it into your promotion.
f. Hint: have your video point to a landing page to collect their
name and email before you give up your free viral report.
3. Social book marking (aka tagging)a. Use the Buddy System to start an immediate flow of traffic from
the social book marking system.
b. First open an account with at least one social book mark site.
Preferably starting with at least three. If only three is what
you are comfortable with, my suggestion is to start with:
Stumble Upon, Digg, and Squidoo.
c. A central place to find top performing sites and create an
account to start social book marking is: Socializer:
http:/helix.ekstreme.com/be599b hint: copy and paste the
socializer icon onto your content pages. These will make it
convenient for others to tag and bookmark your site as well.
d. Tag your content page, landing page, or the page you chose to
promote.
i. Use the keywords that you worked into the content.
ii. Use the description you wrote for the content. Preferably
one of the headings. This should be either your title or
a main objective sentence that compliments the content.
iii. Set the URL to the page that you are tagging if it has
not already done so. This would be a good chance to use
one of your keywords if you are given the chance to edit
the URL.
4. Email your buddy system to inform them that “Tag Your It”! This is where your system comes out of the closet and shines with a mystic phenomenon!Major Note! Not all content is “taggable”. Sometimes your content will be just content, leave this page for search engine purposes. What you want to start out with is decent informative content with a lead capture at the bottom of the page offering a free report of some sort. You use this report that you give away to bring your promotion to their attention. The other method of making your page taggable is to offer a reusable resource that will change at least monthly. It is not mandatory to do so but, you want the first tag page to be as successful as possible and last as long term as possible. Example: On a site that offered vitamins as their main theme, I used a body index calculator inserted into a page. This gave them a reason to “tag” the site and test out how well they were doing with their weight loss diet. I used a weight loss diet cook book for the free download to capture the name and email. The auto responder delivers a pre-set weight loss recipe every week. This way I not only captured the space on their desktop through the report but also gave them a means to be interactive with the site. And don’t forget, I am allowed to be in contact with them every week delivering a new low calorie recipe.
