Here is an analogy to think about.
If you bought a new car and then sold ads all over it to local businesses, and assuming that you managed to sell so many ads that the revenue from the advertising eventually equalled or matched the cost of the car, would you consider that the revenue from those ads would mean that you got the car for free?
Or would you consider that the advertising simply represented a separate income stream for you that happened to have offset your initial outlay? An outlay, indeed, that you'd have had to make regardless of whether you sold the ads or not
That's the difficulty that manay people have with this book. It is not a question of whether or not the technique works. Monetizing web pages is hardly a novel idea, after all.
The question really is whether the title of the book and the sales page that describes it are reasonable descriptions of what the book actually teaches.
