OK, I will chime in here. I don't think that is the 'real' question. In any business, the real question is 'what is the return on my investment and how long will it take to get it'? That is the only question, period.
This is an educational book. The cost is reasonable for what you learn. Can you use it to make say 100% return on your investment in a week, absolutely. You could also mess it up and lose money repeatedly. It all depends on your experience level. This is not a book for someone new to PPC advertising however. If you have little or no experience with pay per click, do yourself a favor and get more education and experience before you use this one.
I did buy the book. I did read the book and I did get very excited about it. I also did not go running for a refund just because the 'sizzle' of the sales letter was a little misleading. I mean in my mind, free is equal to no cost so I never felt duped or scammed at all. How many people have bought an electronics device where you had to mail in your proof of purchase to get your discount. Did that stop you from buying the product?
I want to make a couple of points that those of you who never bought the book might be curious about:
1. The methods taught are not 100% RISK free, but when done properly, they allow you to advertise on ANY PPC search engine for either a reduced cost, break even cost, or get this, a profit.
2. Yes, this is about monetizing your landing page. That in itself is not a novel concept. What is valuable to me is the specific method of purchasing clicks, the specific method of creating your landing page, the specific method of monetizing your landing pages and the special 4 free bonuses that no one is mentioning in the forums (thankfully I might add).
3. I have purchased many other manuals on adwords or making money online that were absolute junk. This is not one of them. If you apply the principles properly, in the right market, with the right landing page, you should get great results.
4. Even after reading this book, would everyone get it 100% correct the first time? I doubt it. Keep in mind, Dr Jon has been doing this for 9 years. I myself and proceeding with caution. I am saving $250 to begin my first marketing test. I know that I could blow that money without getting any results. I will however, keep trying each month until I get it. There is so much potential that it would be foolish not to.
5. Do you actually need his book? That depends on your experience. I recommend that if you go it alone, make sure to test everything you do. Keep accurate and up to date records of each attempt so you can improve each time.
6. Was I disappointed that the book did not have some magical way of buying PPC ads with no money? Well, honestly, yes I was initially, but that disappeared after page 41 (the end of section one).
7. Is there anything missing from this book? Well, yes, frankly, there are some things like tips on how to manage the scheduling of your monetization efforts. For example, you all know that one recommendation is to sell banner ads. Well, if you have different advertisers buying ads at different times of the month, it can get a bit tricky managing when the ads expire. All it takes is a good ToDo list/reminder system to keep you on track, but that is something missing from the manual.
8. Am I going to stuff my affiliate link in this post? I would not insult your intelligence by doing so. If you want to buy it, go ahead. If you don't want to buy it, ask yourself this question ... "how else can I drive targeted traffic to my web page for a low cost per visitor?"
I encourage you to post any comments or questions I may have spurred with this post.
Glen.
