John,
It seems the only conflict is between Ducharme's opinion of himself and those who've been taken in by his hype.
Corey Rudl is the real deal. If you're looking to spend $197, you'll get your money's worth and more by purchasing his course. Highly recommended.
Another great resource is Corey's private site called "Secrets To Their Success," which costs $19.95 (USD) per month. Each month you get 2 new interviews with entrepreneurs who are making serious money online. The great thing is that they are *not* doing it in the over-crowded "internet marketing" field, but rather in various other industries.
For instance, this month's interviews profile a young Brit earning up to $5000 per month, strictly from affiliate programs, reviewing exercise equipment, and a Dallas entrepreneur whose site sells scuba gear. Great stuff.
So, if you really want to learn the "nuts-and-bolts" of internet marketing, get Corey's course. If you'd like inspiration and real-life examples, join his private site. But avoid Ducharme like the plague. (IMHO)
