Hi Guys,
Just wanted to see what model people on this forum prefer and why.
I would really appreciate your commentsAssuming you have a software product...
Model-1- Classic Shareware Model
Offer a free trial download that expires after x days. On expiration user clicks button on software nag screen and purchases unlock code.
Assumption that people if they find the product useful will definitely buy it.
But i have heard from some place, dont recall where, that only 2% of people actually buy unlock codes, most just look for a crack/hack. Dont know how authentic those figures were..Model-2 The Magazine Model
Offer the full version for download, ask user to enter credit card information.
User is billed after 7 days if he does not manually cancel the charge.
Assumption: unless the product is really horrid most subs are too lazy to cancel
Cons: lot of people will use the product and then cancel the charge, so they get a product for free.
This would be great for a online service, but for a software, once given away its gone forever...Model-3 Standard Internet Marketer Model
User has to purchase the software to try it. 90 Day money back guarantee is provided. Videos of the software are provided from the site ( mostly flash movie demos of the product)Now each of these have their pros and cons, but i noticed that model 3 is more prevelant on this forum and this model is based on the premise that people BUY on impulse and JUSTIFY their purchase with logic. NEVER the other way around.
Where as the shareware model believes that unless the people are given a chance to try the product its very difficult to get them to pay for it.
Any body have any opinions?
Thanks
Satyaatya
