Lou,
All that you just posted was right on the money. I think that from this discussion many people can glean some infomation that will help them do the due dilligence and make educated decisions. Heck just pick out a few keywords from our conversation and do a google search and you can investigate to your heart's content.
Andy, It is not my intention to call anyone stupid so if I implied that or came off that way I apologise. It was my intention to donate some time to type out a little useful "How To" training and the link to my site was actually not to promote but to illustrate that I actually teach these techniques to my international organization and apply them to two direct sales businesses that I run and my efforts in network marketing. If a person happens to be a "C" then I hope that they don't get involved. In the world of marketing thier are many different approaches and no single approach is agreeable to all people.
Addmitadly the MLM world is full of shady characters but then again so is any profession. There are some that I trust and others that I don't touch with a 10 foot pole. For some MJ may fall in the 10 foot pole category but for others he may have delivered the product they were looking for.
I see FAP as a tool that can be used in a positive and honest way. I use it primarily as a mastermind tool for communication. I have in addition desigend a mastermind site with audio training, scripts, and a mastermind forum. I am not a HTML pro but have put in weeks of work to provide tools and training that so many network marketers are left without in the industry in an effort to help people to succeed. I am also quite sure that if they follow the steps practice and work hard that they can succeed. It may take a week for some or months for others in the world of sales but if you don't give up you can succeed. It is however very important to sell products that you believe in and to do it in a way that is honest and ethical. Some would argue that networkmarketing is neither honest nor ethical and that is thier opinion. I however do feel that it can be done in an honest and ethical way.
FAP is a tool for communication and not a business opportunity. It is in fact Free and you do not at any time send money to MJ to join it. However FAP does facilitate and highly encourage the joining of two income streams (currently).
One is Life Force International. I use and like the products the company has been around for 20 years and has a great commission payout for those of us who do the advertising. The Life Force products have been purchased under a private label by physicians for almost two decades. Some people don't care for these type of health products but hey that's alright because they don't have to buy them. We vote with our money. If no body purchases a product for consumption then poof! The company goes out of business. Our president didn't like broccoli but it is still on the shelves at the grocery store.
The second income stream is TrafficOasis a lead company. I use leads in my business and so does every other marketer or store owner in the universe. Whether they generate leads them selves or purchase them all business owners depend on potential customers becoming customers. Heck we would all be unemployed without them.
Now I even know people who use Sea Silver (I don't and won't) to this day and love the products. The fact of the matter is that MJ is only a SeaSilver distributer. Recently Sea Silver had some legal issues with the FTC. Word on the street is that they are resolving those issues and correcting thier ways. They will probably continue to sell tons of products as well. Why? I guess because people want to use the products. I don't think anyone is forcing them. Now MJ as a distributer would probably have a few people who also became distributers upset about the FTC issue. Now is that because of MJ's actions or Sea Silver's actions. If MJ had developed a website that claimed Sea Silver could raise the dead and could not substantiate those claims then he would have some issues with the FTC. I am not sure how he marketed Sea Silver but I hope that is not the case. If he told you that you were going to make $100,000 a year in your sleep without even lifting a toe then there would be some legal recourse you could take. I donn't know if he did that either but my guess he didn't. If he nearly introduced a product using effective marketing techniques and we all tried it and some liked it and others didn't then voila! That's conusmer marketing.
Now on the issue of Cash Culture - You will be happy to know that I did some research (your comments inspired me to learn more). I found that it was a New Zeland Company (this is where MJ lives now). The company raised some eyebrows in the New Zeland government but from reports broke no exhisting laws (although some more strict industry regulating laws have been enacted since). It seems that Cash Evolution (in my opinion not a good idea) went bankrupt and that some unscrupulous outside entities (nothing to do with MJ beyond the poor management that drove it to bankruptsy) who were assigned to sort out the bad debts of the bankrupt company began illegally charging the credit cards of distributors for dues uncollected. MJ was not the initiator of this offense although given the limited info I could find it seems that it was not a good opportunity or possibly ethical one to get involved with and although it may have been legal in some countries I do not think it would have passed the test in the US. Hense MJ owner and author could be held accountable for thus proliferating such a crock.
The FAP is free (no money sent to MJ for that) But the reccomended optional income streams LFI and TO cost money to join. LFI and TO are independant Corportations. MJ's only association with these companies is as a distributor. FAP targets two types of customers 1. Those looking for self improvement ie. physical health is benificial in other areas. 2. Those looking for a system that will help them as they work toward creating financial stability. FAP also provides a mechanism for communication.
I was a member of TO outside of FAP. I find the leads to be quality and a product that I purchase. I also purchased and consumed health products outside of FAP. FAP introduced me to a line of health products that I am happy to purchase and consume. I also have chosen to become a distributer of both companies and am making a fair income selling the products to other consumers after only two months.
I personally have seen the difference between selling the dream and selling the product. Just ask anyone who works with me personally. My goal is to be direct and honest with my customers.
I understand your reservations with your knowledge of MJ's background in Seasilver and Cash Evolution (I was not aware of that). I personally deal in selling products on a daily basis. I will not even blink at a program named Cash Evolution as the name alone in my professional experience lets you know what the message is "lets all collect cash" what was the product anyway?.
In my original post I was merely trying to provide some useful training and illustrate the point that it is ok to agree to disagree.
Yes Andy, you illustrated that point well and I am grateful for the time you took to post.
Now I hope that people know that there are always varying opinions but ultimately the responsibility for due dilligence rests with the person who is seeking to decide on what is right for them and to discern right from wrong. Yes there is an absolute right and an absolute wrong. For my part I work hard to stay on the right athough I am at times wrong and have made foolish decisions in the past. To each person however it is given to know right from wrong for them selves. I hope that the varying opinions have provided some help in understanding how to recognize the answer.
Thanks, Lou and Andy. Even though you may disagree with all or part of what I said. Heck may-be you have some information on the subject that others of us are not privy to.
If anyone is interested in researching the mlm industry, network marketing, illegal gifting programs, and pyramid schemes I would encourage you to pick up a copy of Robert Fitzpatrick's "False Profits". I personally interviewed him while invesigating certain opportunities. He is a nationally recognized author who has testified as an expert witness in many cases tried in the industry.
