I would say go for it, under the following conditions:
-You have plenty of products to review (or a network of savvy folks who can review them for you)
-You can make your site stand out a bit from the rest by offering a bit MORE value to those who visit: a chart that compares different features of software side-by-side, for instance, making comparisons easier than wading through tons of articles, interactivity at your site...you get the drift.
-Make sure you offer information that's really useful in your reviews to marketers who want to be able to scan a review, and find out what features a product has that could really help them out (and which are the "dogs").
Let me know once you have some reviews going. I'm going to start a newsletter for MYSELF soon (after years of writing them for others, I'm finally taking the plunge to create my own), and would love to have some as fillers (with full credit going back to you, of course).
