The problem with people is that they go ahead, create a site and then try to decide what they want to get it ranked for when actually it should be the other way around.
- First decide exactly what you want to get ranked for
- Then write your content
- Then write your metatags (title tags are only one part of the equation)
Your site seems to be a directory for office supplies in the UK (correct me if I'm wrong). I went through your site and here are some problems I found
Your metatags can't seem to decide what the site is about
Title tag: Busigen UK Office Services and Supplies Portal
(sounds fine for a portal or directory)
Description: Conference business to business vortal provides Directory, UK business news & weather, recruitment help, shopping section, newsletter and a company news service.
(not very focused, no mention of office supplies here)
Keywords: search,engine,search engine promotion,search engine submissions,website promotion,website marketing,website submission,online marketing,web marketing,online promotion,site promotion,internet promotion, directory, directories, search, office, advertising, website advertising, web advertising, marketing
(what gives? - this tags tells the search engines quite a different story from the earlier tags, and even though it is largely unimportant in ranking, it is still read by the spiders)
> Keywords are not the problem.
Why not? If they aren't they should be!
Keywords are everything. They decide your site theme, your topic.
Without them the engines wouldn't know what to rank your site for.
I'm wondering what exactly you meant when you meant your site wasn't ranked. What exactly were you searching for when you decided that?
I suggest you decide what your site is going to focus on first before you start looking to see whether its ranked.
You're off to a decent start with your title tag.
As you can see, "office supplies" gets a lot of searches but you'd be competing against 12,200,000 other webpages in the rankings. Too competitive in my opinion.
Wordtracker
office supplies 2,950.0 /day
staples office supplies 271.0 /day
discount office supplies 224.0 /day
viking office supplies 170.0 /day

boise office supplies 62.0 /day
office supplies online 59.0 /day
reliable office supplies 55.0 /day
quill office supplies 50.0 /day
legal office supplies 36.0 /day
cheap office supplies 35.0 /dayOverture
office supply 14,771.1 /day
staples office supply 285.9 /day
viking office supply 199.5 /day
(truncated)"uk office supplies" doesn't get as many searches, and would seem to be easier to target. But you'd be competing with 7,500,000 other webpages listed for that term and it would take a lot of elbow grease to get a top ten ranking for it.
Wordtracker
office supplies uk 99.0 /day
office supplies free brochure uk 10.0 /day
atlanta uk office supplies ltd 9.0 /day
compass office supplies uk 7.0 /day
county office supplies uk 5.0 /day
viscount office supplies uk 5.0 /day
staples office supplies uk 3.0 /day
morgan and morgan office supplies uk 2.0 /day
uk online office supplies 2.0 /day
home office supplies uk 2.0 /dayOverture
office supply uk 12.6 /dayIf these are the terms you plan to get ranked for, here's how to go about it
1. Find articles, or write content around these keyphrases (one keyphrase per article) and put them up on your site.
2. Make sure your navigation menu contains all these keywords in the anchor text of the links
3. Submit your site to directories, get high-quality inbound links from other on-topic sites
4. Add affiliate links, ads to monetize the site. Keep creating content and adding it to your pages.
This is a good way to start. Because of the competitive nature of the keywords, it may take longer than otherwise to get a top ten ranking.
Good luck with your site.
